To encourage residents and visitors to enjoy the beauty of Rocky Knoll’s property, the Rocky Knoll Foundation supported the expansion of the existing walking path. The path has been reconstructed to better accommodate residents, visitors, and staff members using wheelchairs and walkers, or strolling on their own. The path expansion was completed late Fall of 2020. Completely paved, the path now goes around the entire facility. It is approximately one-half mile long and winds through the manicured and naturally wooded landscapes surrounding the building. With safety always a prime concern, the new path will make outdoor excursions safer and more enjoyable.
Although the Foundation has not been able to meet due to Covid concerns, we are hopeful that we will be able to reconvene this summer. At that time, one of the things on our agenda would be to determine a plan for some seating areas along the path. We may also consider looking into the possibility of purchasing a motorized vehicle (such as a golf cart) that can be used to take residents "for a spin" on the path. Feeling the wind in their hair, rosy cheeks, and having the opportunity to experience the joys of nature during a ride would surely lift spirits and bring smiles to the residents faces.
If you would be interested in making a donation towards enhancing the path with seating areas or the purchase of a golf cart, please call Rocky Knoll's main number (920-893-6441) and ask to speak with Cindy Stevens, Project Coordinator. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated!
